Who We Are
An Indian word meaning "Bright Waters of the Licking River," Pataskala is located in Licking County, 25 minutes east of Columbus. Originally settled in 1821 by Richard Conine, who built a grist mill at the south end of town, the village was originally named Conine, but the name was changed to Pataskala in 1851 when the town received its first post office.
The village officially became a city in 1997, and today Pataskala is an economically sound community of 10,000 that is growing quickly while working hard to retain its peaceful, friendly, rural flavor.
Pataskala is proud of its beautiful, quiet and open country spaces, and maintains its appreciation of the outdoors through its parks programs. Six city parks feature playing fields, two golf courses, ball diamonds, volleyball courts, a fishing pond, walking trails, a municipal swimming pool, and a number of programs and activities for both youth and adults.
