Who We Are
A merger of two towns on the Ohio and Erie Canal—Werts Grove and Rareys Portled to the birth of Groveport in 1847. Nearly two centuries later, this charming Ohio village remains the only Groveport in the nation.
With its recently renovated historical Main Street, and its auspicious location as a logistics and distribution center hub, Groveport has gracefully preserved its heritage while looking ahead to future growth. Residents can choose to live in either the charming older homes surrounding the historic downtown, or in the more recently built houses of the numerous subdivisions.
Despite the Villages small size, there's always plenty to do. The Community Affairs Department coordinates concert series, festivals and seasonal events; the Cultural Arts Center and Art Gallery schedule frequent exhibitions; the Town Hall hosts five theatre companies; and the Recreation/Senior Center offers numerous ways to stay fit.
