Who We Are
Established as the County seat of Pickaway County in 1810, Circleville is a small, family-friendly town of 13,500 residents. Its name was derived from the circular portion of a large Hopewell Indian-era earthwork upon which it was built.
Circleville has a rich sense of history. Well-maintained Victorian homes and commercial buildings line the streets near the center of town, where the ornate 1880s County Courthouse proudly sits. And two of Circlevilles historic homes the Clarke-May House and the Moore Houseare open for tours.
Circleville enjoys a very diverse economy. The citys historic role as a market for rich nearby farms continues, as does a focus on wholesale and retail trade, and manufacturing. In addition, local factories produce commercial resins, lamps, paper industrial films, and picture tubes.
