Who We Are

Canal Winchester is a vibrant, growing community of 5,000 with a rich history and a small-town feel. The Village was established in 1811, and from 1831 until 1902 the Ohio and Erie Canal was routed through what is now its historic downtown. Today, the downtown is both a shopping district and a place where the community's history is celebrated; many of its buildings are on the National Register of Historic Places.

The Village offers a number of recreational options, including eight parks, a bike trail, a municipal pool, baseball and soccer fields, year-round athletic programs for children and adults, and the Frances Steube Community Center that provides public meeting space and programs for all ages.

Located 15 miles southeast of downtown Columbus, Canal Winchester is convenient to the Rickenbacker International Airport and Intermodal Facility, and to the city of Lancaster and the rapidly growing communities of northwestern Fairfield County.
